All alone in the weeds. It's a sad ending for Illinois Central SW14 #1450 as it lives out its final days at the National Railway Equipment facility in Dixmoor, IL. It was built new for the IC in 1952 as an SW9, before later being rebuilt to an SW14. We're just a few miles from Markham Yard, where it no doubt spent many loyal years working along the Mainline of Mid America. NREX has been purging a lot of equipment lately and 1450 is just one of the many victims. Farewell, old friend.
