A late running westbound California Zephyr is seen approaching Soda Springs, CA, on Thanksgiving Day 2019, having crested Donner Summit two miles east of here. Less than 48 hours prior there was no snow on the ground, but the first major storm of the 2019-2020 season dropped over 30" of dry snow in about as many hours.
