Remarks & Notes
The Lehigh Valley's transition back to Cornell Red is readily apparent as SJ-4 makes a set-out at South Plainfield Yard. Lead locomotive, RS11 7642, has fairly recently been repainted in Tuscan Red, but RS11 7643 has even more recently been repainted Cornell Red. When GP38-2s 314-325 arrive on the property at the end of the year, the RS11s will disappear from the symbol freights and BAR 65 will go off lease. The Kentile Floors sign often appeared in our photos at South Plainfield yard, and the road paralleling the yard is named Kentile Road to this day. Kentile Floors, however, is long out of business. Their floor tiles were made of...asbestos! R.T. Steinbrenner Photo
