Remarks & Notes |
Still A Ways To Go. It's been a long day for the crew and passengers on Amtrak 14 as the famed long distance train pulls in to...Bakersfield? That's right, both Coast Starlight's were forced to detour over Tehachapi, through the Central Valley and over Altamont Pass following Metrolink track work in Van Nuys. On this day in particular 14 was delayed more than 4 hours shortly after departing Los Angeles as a Metrolink train ahead of it struck and killed a trespasser. Rather than pulling up to the 1889-built, ex-Southern Pacific station here for the crew change around 2PM in the afternoon...it's just after 7PM now as the last light of day paints some remaining clouds above. |
