Amtrak train 14, the northbound ("westbound" by Southern Pacific's timetable) Coast Starlight is just about at the station in San Luis Obispo, California, on July 2, 1974. Amtrak SDP40Fs 559 and 584 are each only a few months old at this point, with 559 and 584 each rolling out of EMD's La Grange, IL, factory the previous May.
