An empty coal train destined for Hazard passes through the curved Rockhouse Creek tunnel on former L&N track.
The L&N built this section of track from Hazard out towards Deane, called the Rockhouse Sub nowadays, to access many of the coal mines in the area. The line was then made a thru route in later years when the EB&V and L&N were connected at Deane. The route then ran from Patio, junction with the CC Sub, to Martin, junction with the Big Sandy Sub. CSXT has since mothballed it as a thru route and most of the EK Sub is out of service west of Hazard. Something that is cool is the L&N put CTC in on the line from Patio out to Blackey.
