Founded in the 1880s, the Chicago, West Pullman, and Southern was designed to transport steel from Wisconsin Steel's plant on Chicago's South Side to the nearby Harvester manufacturing plant. The CWP would be absorbed into the Chicago Rail Link in 1983 as a result of the downturn of Chicago's steel production and manufacturing industries. Still in CWP paint, SW9 #51 is seen serving industries on Chicago's South Side four years into the CRL operation. Tom Golden photo.
