| In the mist of a hard rain, CSX Q583-17 (Nashville,TN-Atlanta,GA) is south of the town Bell Buckle with a motor consist in tow battling the rolling hills of 7-mile hill on the CSX Chattanooga Sub. CSX 4694 an ex Electro-Motive Division Demo were assigned as a lead motor. 1 of 25 of these were the very early SD70M locomotive that was introduced by EMD in the mid-90s. CSX purchase the 4600 series and were placed in service primarily to be used in the Bone Valley in Florida. On rare occasions a few of the 70M’s will make its way out of Florida and venture through the system. Photo from the C. Bamberg Collection. |
