A westbound Union Pacific manifest freight climbs the mesa where Big 10 Curve is located on the climb up the front Range of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains on the afternoon of June 20, 2018. The head end has just passed the hopper car wind break of the curve and is approaching the east switch of Eisele siding, while the rear of the train is below still headed for the curve assisted by lone DPU climbing the two-percent grade out of Rocky.
