Remarks & Notes |
An early morning Amtrak Regional Express sprints through Elizabeth, NJ passing a west bound fly-over track built by the Pennsylvania Railroad long ago. The "fly-over" allowed for Pennsy's higher speed passenger trains to fly over the center tracks which were used mostly for the non-stop and slower freight trains. In this case, it allowed easy access to Pennsy's P&H branch (bypass of Newark) and both Waverly and Kearny Yards. Waverly yard is no longer there, but the jump over still allows for the connection to the P&H branch without effecting moves on track 1.
