Freight rules the night. The passenger platform at East Chattanooga Depot is deserted this night, with the last of the day's commuter trains having departed hours ago. Despite the apparent lack of human activity, this yard is still very much alive as the freight hogs never sleep. In this scene, the Firemen on two big Southern freight engines are actively squaring away their fires for imminent departures, with mixed freights destined for Birmingham and Macon.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
