Remarks & Notes |
The Tennessee Alabama & Georgia was a Class 3 railroad that operated through its 3 namesake states. It was built to transport steel between the massive Siskin Steel mill in Gadsden to Chattanooga, however it was purchased by the Southern 1971 for the sole purpose of eliminating competition. The line was quickly scrapped and the entire line is either gone or out of service. Thankfully the TAG's final locomotive, GP38 80 was saved by TVRM and after several years of sitting in the backlot without prime mover the locomotive was restored to service in a joint effort by NS and TVRM. With the tourist train out of view at the station it looks like the TAG has been reborn to move freight another day. Visit my blog,
