An ex-Lehigh Valley SW8 switches the west end of Allentown Yard. This perspective best illustrates the dynamic brake option unique to eighteen of the LV’s SW8’s. The primary need for dynamics was to bring anthracite coal from the mines along the Hazleton Branch down the steep grade to the main line at Penn Haven Junction.
