| The diminutive class 121 single car DMU's were built from 1960. Amazingly two are still working on the main line 57 years later for Chiltern Railways providing a peak hour shuttle on the branch between Princes Risbrough and Aylesbury. Due to the increasing difficulty in maintaining the units they are to finally be retired with the May 2017 timetable change bringing to an end the era of 1st generation 'slam door' DMU's in the UK. |
