Subtly Busy. Although the focus of this photograph is the hotshot NS 204 bringing its intermodal consist north past the Spartanburg Depot, there is much else going on in this photograph. The Hub City Railroad Museum has scheduled Train Day late in May as shown on the banner on the old Southern caboose, and volunteers are busy preparing the caboose for the event with painting and cleaning activities. Two of the volunteers have taken a break from painting and are next to the signals on either side of NS 9393, taking a photograph as the train speeds through town toward its destination. The United States flag is gently flying in the breeze. Visible through the trees and near the depot, there are a number of vehicles belonging to families that have brought their kids to wait for the train, including one man and his two young grandchildren. Sadly, though inevitably, the old Southern signals once here have long since been exchanged for the newer Darth Vader style signals.
