Amtrak's Empire Builder slows to a stop at Winona, MN after making a quick run up from La Crosse, WI on Milwaukee Road's route of the Hiawathas. This train was typical of the look that lingered through the first summer of Amtrak service. No repainted equipment, locos carrying BN numbers. This was a great time to ride Amtrak with all those dome cars still in original decor.
