Remarks & Notes

Amtrak's Bay State was the "Inland Route" train that ran from Boston to New York and Washington via Worcester and Springfield, MA, since discontinued. On a late fall morning the southbound Bay State took on riders at Berlin, CT, where boarding across an active track was standard practice for decades -- you won't see that these days! The former New Haven station at right, built in 1910, was sadly destroyed by fire in December 2016.
