Standing over fifteen feet tall, a shiny ES44AC is a commanding presence trackside. Place those tracks in the middle of a busy Kentucky city street, and an already-imposing locomotive takes on a whole new look. While locomotives in city streets may seem rather perplexing- if not downright alarming- to most motorists, such is everyday life in La Grange, Kentucky. Efforts by CSX Transportation to separate the rail line from the street have met vehement opposition from locals, leaving the seat of Oldham County one of the last places in the country with true street running.
