Remarks & Notes

A February heatwave is in full swing on a 46 degree Sunday as an E&LS turn to Mass City works the pulpwood loading tracks. Since the track beyond to Ontonagon was removed, the last station on the line is this wood loading yard. This switch is now the westernmost switch on the E&LS. There are a number of miles intact beyond here that see storage cars. The Milwaukee Road heritage of the line is evident in the chevron switchstand. Empty cars have been spotted on the siding and the conductor reverses the switch to let the locomotive back onto the mainline.
