Remarks & Notes |
A small A-B-A consist has just crossed into Missouri on the Marceline Sub. The train is about 18 miles west of Ft. Madison and is working towards KC.
This area was once a thriving station named Dumas in far northeastern Missouri. The town got its start around 1887 when the ATSF built a single-track bridge over the Des Moines River to allow trains to cross between Iowa and Missouri. In 1911 the bridge was double tracked and a new depot was built. In the 1920's this town lost its thrive, and the people left and the place became a ghost town. Now days you never know there was anything here.
