Winter professionals prevail…… After a long day on the hill Union Pacific's spreaders come home to Truckee after having returned the flow of commerce to Union Pacific's Sierra Crossing. After having 54" of fresh Sierra Cement fall at Norden in the previous 24 hours the spreaders had their work cut out, rotary plows ready in Roseville in case conditions on the hill deteriorated. Through their efforts however, with the aid of snow cats, the spreaders dug out the mountain once again. As night over takes the Sierra light snow continues to fall as the spreaders pass the Truckee Amtrak station, their day near its end they will await the hill's next call to service.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
