| The BNSF was just beginning to experiment with DP power and their MAC's on heavy trains. One of the test trains were on these Granite City taconite trains. Here NT400 pulls into Galesburg off the Barstow Sub with 4 SD70MAC's cut in at 4 different places on this 167 car train. All of the mid-train units were manned by EMD personnel. Couple weeks earlier they ran an another test train using ATSF SF30C which had remote control. It was the start to something big for the BNSF. Scanned slide from 10-19-95 |
