The new "Early" Sounder, train 1507, crosses G Street on the historic Milwaukee S Curve trestle, as it approaches the Tacoma Dome Station.
It won't be long now, before trains are using the new concrete trestle just south of the old one. At this point, there are about 8 spans to fill and the crossing of G Street.
Also under construction, just barely visible in the Freighthouse Square buildings, is a new Passenger station just under construction. All passenger trains through Tacoma will move to this station and the new Bypass-Bypass route some time in 2017. Once the concrete bridge is complete as a single track structure, the wooden trestle will be razed and the second half of the concrete structure built. The end result will be a two track bridge.
Way off in the background is the old coach yard (from when Tacoma was the end of the line), currently being used to store the recently made welded rail for the new bridge. This route is also used by Tacoma Rail.
