Deep in the loess mountains of western China, SY1470 hauls a short afternoon passenger train bound for the copper mines at Shenbutong. This is just an ordinary passenger train but therein lay its significance. By this date, this was the LAST revenue standard gauge steam passenger train in the world! In November 2015, this steam operation came to end when the railway purchased 4 new diesels and retired all steam locomotives.
