This train has just 'taken a right' to head for Pensacola, FL, but most of it is still on the old L&N's NOLA-Cincy main stem back around the curve. Power may look boring, but there is a bit of variety under the yellow paint. Lead unit 3186 (7/72) is UP all the way, but trailing units are ex-MP, with a db-less SD40-2 4308 (delivered in blue as 3308 in 12/79) and an SD50 (delivered in yellow but with MP lettering in 1984).
Photos taken in the Deep South--primarily Alabama and Georgia--from the 1970s to the early 2000s. Featured railroads include the ICG, the West Point Route, SCL, Southern, Frisco, and even KCS.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
