In a rare "over/under" the N&W 611 begins it's charge up the Christiansburg Grade, passing under the Ex-Virginian Whitethorn District, which is occuped by a coal train, carrying black diamonds from the hills of West Virginia - the same coal that powers the historic steam locomotive.
