The small village of Goodview, Virginia, was awoken just before sunrise this morning by an impressive display of steam from N&W class J number 611 as it led train 955 along the former Virginian mainline. The temperature was in the high teens, making the exhaust that much more impressive. The J departed Roanoke at 6:10am, leaving its home of the Virginia Museum of Transportation, headed to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer for routine mechanical work to prepare it for this year's round of public excursions. Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
