GN 679 is mated with SD7 553 and another SD alongside the GN roundhouse at Superior, WI on 4th of July weekend 1969. This passenger Geep along with GN 680 are working the Superior freight pool and providing protection for the Badger/Gopher in case the venerable E7 fails, or in case of heavier than normal passenger traffic. The added light on the "front" of the Geep is white, but No. 680 sported a red light at this time.
