Remarks & Notes |
Running hammerhead style is the head three motor of CSX Z354-20 (NS 163) as it pass through the "Stateline" signals (MP J-139.1 Whiteside/Stateline) on its way back to Wauhatchie which is seven rail miles from this south on the steepest part of the mountain from this location. CSX Z354-20 (NS 162) had just come back from helping the heavy CSX Z601-20 (NS 334) which stalled out at the Whiteside crossover which is about three miles north of this location. Typically this is one of those rare moment on this piece of railroad where if your train stall out somebody had to be called to help on out on this mountain, but for some odd reason not only CSX Z601-20 stalled out going south (north in NS terms) to Chattanooga on the main two track, not far south the massive CSX X675-18 was stalled out at Wildwood trying to go north on the CSX Chattanooga Sub. |
