Trains are pretty scarce between Grand Jct. and Helper on Union Pacific's Green River Sub. these days. Of the few seen every day 2 are Amtrak's westbound and eastbound California Zephyrs, #'s 5 & 6. Here is a winter consist #5 speeding thru the shale badlands below the Book Cliffs just west of Floy siding. This is ex. D&RGW trackage. If you look closely you can see that I am getting the old "double roll-by, head out of the window, safety wave" from the crew. The engineer from the front window and the fireman (that is the term the DS used) from the side window. |
