Approaching the settlement of Steel City, a westbound Conrail freight with an all-EMD consist that includes two ex-Reading GP30’s and a GP9B trundles under an abandoned signal bridge. I remember that the signals were semaphores, and they were there in the early 1970’s, but I don’t know when they were finally removed. The land across the road from this location has been the home of the Freemansburg motorcycle hill climb since the 1930’s.
