OPE1 traction unit stands on the filling at the quarry of "Pavlovsky GOK". OPE1 is the first Soviet traction unit manufactured by Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (USSR) between 1970 and 2001 years. It designed for work on open cast mining railways, electrified in the single-phase AC power frequency of 50 Hz at a voltage of 10 kV. It also have an opportunity to work on non-electrified stretch. The equipment of the unit is designed for reliable operation at higher voltage in the contact network to 11.6 kV and lowered to 7.5 kV. OPE1 traction unit consists of AC electric section and section with diesel generator. The action took place at "Pavlovsk Mining and Processing Integrated Works" ("Pavlovsky GOK") - the largest plant for extraction and processing granite in Europe.
