The rear brakeman is waiting to swing aboard when Great Northern’s eastbound Train 28 “Western Star” whistles off from Whitefish, Montana on April 9, 1969. The GN Flexible bus in Big Sky Blue color met trains to take any passengers on to Kalispell.
