"Speeders Gather at Hawthorne"
On a dreary Spring day, the NARCOA group hosted a speeder run on the NYS&W Southern Division from Sparta to Hawthorne. The run to Hawthorne was in celebration of the reopening of the Hawthorne Station which had recently been relocated from the corner Diamond Bridge Ave and Royal Ave. This relocation was done in an effort to keep this station from getting damaged by vehicles making wide turns from Royal Ave to Diamond Bridge Ave. Despite the dreary weather, the turnout for the event was rather high as guests were allowed to tour the "new" station and look at the various speeders located adjacent to it. |
