Remarks & Notes |
On the eve of St. Patrick's Day 2015, a long westbound 135-car empty coal train (E-CGLBTM) led by an H2 SD70MAC leans into Houlihan's Curve marking the start of it's 1.1% uphill climb out of the Illinois River Valley. This particular train originated on Canadian National rails at the Otto C. Eckert generating station (Lansing Board of Water and Light) in Lansing, MI and is headed to Wyoming's Powder River Basin where the train will head down the Orin Sub for a trip to the Black Thunder Coal Mine for loading. EMD leader's and something other than an intermodal train, both somewhat rare catches here on BNSF's transcontinental mainline. |
