| I stopped by the Union Pacific West Colton yard after my evening class to take a look. The departure yard was pretty empty with BNSF 7754 on point for the interchange train that runs back and forth between West Colton and Barstow. There appears to be several locomotives spotted waiting for train sets. There wasn't much action going on, but as I was about to leave, I spotted a yard job hauling a car set in to the departure yard. They usually pull the set out of the yard to clear the switches of various cross over tracks that they negotiate to position the set. Then they will revers into the appropriate track and tie down the train set. |
