Due to floods in Colorado, particularly the Denver area, Union Pacific’s westbound Train 17 “Portland Rose” is detouring over the freight-only Fourth District through Marysville and on to North Platte. With an RPO (probably unstaffed for the detour) and only four passenger-carrying cars, No. 17 crosses Aikens Hill, Kansas on June 27, 1965. The trailing E unit is Milwaukee Road.
