| A deep freeze has settled into the Mahanoy Valley as a Tamaqua Extra crew has completed switching empty hopper cars at Mahanoy City Yard. The steam from the Gilberton Power Company co-generation facility blows eastward, atop the mountain, high above the patch towns of St. Nicholas, Wiggans Patch and Gilberton. The conductor is precariously making his way to the head end of the train on this frigid January evening in the Anthracite Coal Region. |
