| Sunset Promenade. The shadows are getting long and the air is beginning to chill as pedestrians on Portland's Eastern Promenade pause to watch the passage of the little narrow gauge train that has been a part of the landscape here now for just over 20 years. The train is passing the string of coaches that are typically used for the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Company's tourist trains, and have most recently been used for the popular "Polar Express" trips during the holidays. Note the presence of a forlorn pair of 2-foot trucks sitting between the two tracks. Hopefully those trucks will find their way back onto the rails some day, beneath one of the many pieces in the museum's collection that await restoration. |
