Remarks & Notes |
An eastbound Union Pacific coal train snakes through Big 10 Curve on the afternoon of June 9, 2013. In the foreground are two AC4400CWs being used as rear DPUs going through Eisele (formerly Clay), Colorado. Directly below is the head end of the eastbound train led by GE AC4400CW No. 7141 approaching West Rocky. Just above the head end power approaching the hopper car windbreak is a three mid-train DPU locomotives working the train with dynamic braking. The curve laid out on this mesa allows the railroad to maintain a 2-percent grade on the climb up the front range of the Rocky Mountains west of Denver. |
