Remarks & Notes |
Once upon a time on Rome's west side there was a crossing between the Central of Georgia's Chattanooga line and a Southern line from Rome to Gadsden, AL. After the SOU takeover, the old CofG Chatt. line was severed in several places, with useful stretches left in place. The same thing happened with the ex-SOU Gadsden line. Now trains use pieces of both lines (which together create a loop) to serve several large customers on the banks of the Coosa River a few miles west of Rome. |
