| A pair of brand new GE AC4400CW units lead a 126 car SP Salt Lake City to Denver mixed freight east up the 2% ruling grade to Soldier Summit on July 24, 1995. The Southern Pacific was experimenting with the new GE AC traction units to see if they could handle a train on the Provo Sub without a helper. The RODVM climbed the hill okay but the journey was rather slow with the SP 275 and 281 pulling at a steady 27 mph approaching Gilluly. |
