NEW POWER FOR THE WINNIPESAUKEE SCENIC: The Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad recently acquired an EMD SW1000 to replace the out of service #1008, an Alco S1. Though not a vintage locomotive like the Alco, the SW1000--numbered 1012--has been performing well and looks great in its fresh paint scheme. Here, the 1012 leads the Fall Foliage Special to Plymouth over Winona Road in New Hampton, NH. Note how the engine number has been placed on the hood of the locomotive where the railroad name typically was placed in the past.
