Amtrak 350 (Chicago-Detroit), the Wolverine, is eastbound and is momentarily about to arrive at the Ann Arbor Station. We are looking northwest toward the West Ann Arbor team track at milepost MH 31 on the Conrail Michigan Line. This is the rail where the Art Train, here seen in the background, was stored. 350 is leaning into the curve that takes the Michigan Line under Ann Arbor Railroad bridge. February 1993 was particularly cold and snowy, and it was a leap of faith to be able to catch 350 on time. I lived just a short walk down the Ann Arbor Railroad ROW to this location from my house on Miller Avenue. A few things about this scene has changed: Amtrak 240 has long since been retired and Art Train long longer exists. Amtrak 350 has been extended to Pontiac, MI.
Amtrak has three routes that connect Michigan with Chicago, but none to the East or South. The routes are: Wolverine - Pontiac - Chicago; Blue Water - Port Huron - Chicago, and Pere Marquette - Grand Rapids - Chicago.
