Remarks & Notes |
South (railroad: west) of Salzburg the Austrian east-west mainline follows the valley of the Salzach River for about 100 kilometers. About 30 kilometers south of Salzburg the valley narrows to a deep canyon. The railway bypasses the most narrow part inside a tunnel and then follows the narrow river bank through the canyon. 1116 264 wearing a special livery for Austrian Red Cross on June 11, 2006, just exited this tunnel, crossed the river and passed a snow shed with its southbound mixed freight train. |
