Nearly five years after the D&RGW/SP merger it was still possible to see trains led by solid lash-ups of Rio Grande power. With the Denver skyline receding in the distance, a westbound work extra with 23 gondolas of new ties speeds along the former Denver & Salt Lake Moffat Route led by Rio Grande's first GP40-2, the 3094 along with ex Conrail GP40 3148 and GP40 3070.
