Remarks & Notes |
Sunset Over Amboy - [Winter Solstice +1 Series] - As the sun sets in the West the day following the Winter Solstice, an eastbound stack train climbs Bolo Hill toward Cadiz. On this day, the sun is as far to the South as it will be all year, and come July it will set over the horizon on peaks visible on the right side of the image. Atlas: - The remnants of the town at Amboy California is visible on the left (buildings) and the nearest train in the image is just passing the signals at WBCS East Amboy. In the distance (above the nearest train) is a second eastbound frieght that has just crested the hill at Bagdad California MP 668 (12 miles away from where I am standing) and the three stop indications in between is the signal bridge near the crossing of National Trails Highway (Route 66) at WBCS West Amboy. |
