Trains Going Everywhere - The arrival and departure board at Union Station in Washington attests to the fact that due to it's location, the city is a hub for trains all along the Eastern Seaboard. The station, built in 1906 was damaged by an earthquake in 2011, that damaged many other historic buildings around town, including the Washington Monument. The netting on the ceiling protects visitors from unstable stonework above, while the rotunda is undergoing an extensive seismic retrofit.
