| Remarks & Notes |
| Soo GP-9 2554 was damaged in a derailment at Denham, MN on Sept. 23, 1978 and was sent to Diesel Electric Services a re-builder in the Twin Cities and came back as something christened a GP-22. Parts and car body from an Ex SP GP35 were used. Apparently the damage was severe enough that 2554 was really never "right" after the accident and although a lot of money was spent the unit didn't last long after its resurrection. Here it is switching the west end of Soo Yard a couple of years after its return to service...looking just like a D/B equipped Soo Line GP35(none on the roster)and sounding just like a GP9. The unit was retired for good a couple years after this photo although it was probably out of service before then. |
