More snow into the night Just after sunset, Union Pacific rotary snowplow No. 900082 heads east approaching Wallace, Kansas, on New Year’s Day 2007. A portion of the track being cleared of snow by the wind during the storm gives the plow a brief respite, but the rotary has plenty of more drifted snow to clear on the way to Salina. It’s the “blue hour,” that magical time during a snowy winter evening where everything turns a deep blue color. That powdery snow still coming out of the rotary’s chute is indicative of how cold it is! (Yes, it was cold!)
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
